About Bodegas Carballal

Communicating with the owner of Carballal is not the easiest of prospects, José Pato Oviedo speaks an unusual form of Spanish which has its roots in both Spanish and Welsh! However, what is very clear is that José knows and understand fantastic wine and is dedicated to producing something special. His cellars are spotless and his commitment to make, not just good wines from Valdeorras but, great wines is more than evident. The vineyards are located around Petin, in the heart of Valdeorras located 50km east of Ourense on the river Sil, with its eastern border being with Castilla Leon, and the area of Bierzo over the mountains. 

Tasting Notes 

Lemon, pears and stone fruit…oh my! This is a fresh and ripe white wine. Wonderful on its own and with good company (although a bowl full of nibbles would help)
